The following photographs are taken during the Grève des femmes on the 14th of June 2019 in Geneva, Switzerland. Women joined in a protest for equality and against sexism, discrimination, and violence against women.

Some of the women had decided to protest bare-breasted as an act of female liberation. With this act, a recurrent question occurs. Is this nudity an empowering feminist act or is it pandering to the patriarchy?

According to some commentators, these bare-breasted feminists appeared to be naive. Believing they are serving some greater purpose, while actually turning their bodies into sexual commodities.

The women that protest (half-)naked can decide to use their body as a symbol that conveys a message. How does this message translate? What does the protest convey if we only show women using this method?
